From November 2023 until March 2024, I wrote about the cannabis industry in Littleton: the business people, the politicians, the money, the shady behavior, the residents’ concerns being ignored, and the sad consequences that result when someone with a lot of money wants something.

In my opinion, cannabis in Littleton has been a cash-cow for the few businesspeople in the industry and for a select group of elected officials.

Every dirty business requires dirty politicians as their handmaids, and Littleton has plenty of self-serving people ready to help, so long as they get theirs.

In October 2024, long after I stopped writing about cannabis in 01460, the leadership in town asked the voters at Town Meeting to approve a monopoly. Of course, that wasn’t the language used in the bylaw. However, a monopoly was the practical outcome.

All of us can see with our own eyes the rampant greed and self-serving behaviors of our national leaders. So why do we refuse to admit that the same corruption is right at home in Littleton?
