This post was published in May 2016, three years after I’d been elected to serve on Littleton’s Board of Selectmen.
The sickening scene on Littleton’s Common—recounted in the post—really was a harbinger of what my life would look and feel like: being regarded as a bitch and being beating down by misogynistic simpletons.
My 2016 post was not offered as a cautionary tale about women in politics. It was offered as a reality check about what happens when women intrude on spaces where men have traditionally predominated.
